This saturday, March 14th, we had scheduled an auction, where our
customers could (and still can, this means YOU!) bring in up to 20 lots of items to sell for
a tiny all-inclusive fee of 2.00.
Unfortunately, we have had to change the format to a flea-market-type sale. You can still
bring in up to 20 lots of items, but now when you do, please mark everything with the price
that you want to sell it for. When your item sells, we’ll take a 15 percent final sale fee,
which is very competitive with similar selling set-ups.
Think of it this way. Just as an example. You have a box of something. Say Lego bricks.
HINT. You sell it for 20 bucks. You end up paying 2 dollars for the entry fee and 3 dollars
for the final sale fee. You pay five bucks. And make 15. Now say you also sell a box of
Manga. HINT. You sell the box of Manga books for 20 bucks. So now you pay 3 bucks for final
sale fee. Between the Lego bricks and Manga, you’ve made 40 bucks minus 8 bucks for fees. 32
bucks. Now you’ve got mad money and some room in your home. What a deal!
Now imagine you sell 100 dollars worth of stuff. It’s really not that hard to find 100
dollars worth of stuff to sell. You’ll take home 83 dollars after fees, which is a lot more
than you’ll take home in most selling situations. And you don’t have to package and mail
your items, sit out at the flea market all day, or have weird people coming into your garage
The items will be available for sale on Saturday, March 14, from 12 to 4, and maybe even a
few more days, depending on circumstances (I know I’m being vague. Sorry!)
So, if you have some boxes of books to get rid of, an old clock, some games, or whatever,
bring it down before Saturday @ noon and we’ll help you get it sold.
I’ve gotten a lot of questions about what to offer in the sale… Here’s a list of suggested
items. Unbroken toys, books, comics, clothes, glassware, books, old videos, VHS tapes, old
typewriters, office machines, clocks, games, tools, furniture (space is limited, try to keep
it small, or better yet, offer up some photos), basically anything you might put in a yard
sale or find at a flea market.
Please if you get a chance, stop by. If you can’t make it Saturday, call the store before
then and we’ll talk. We want all of you to get a chance to either buy or sell.

This is taken straight from the standard Talkshoe invite that you get from people whose shows you follow. Wally is a guy who is very much into online auctions, and who is a heavy user of Bonanzle.com, a new, innovative online auction service that I keep meaning to spend a day checking out. Until I get that chance, check this out.
